TOPANGA CANYON
COMMERCIAL
DEVELOPMENT

The scope of this project called for the design of a new three story commercial building, with subterranean parking, in the heart of the Warner Center, CA. Located across the street from the Topanga Mall, this project was designed to be developed on the lot that previously housed a long time Chinese restaurant establishment.

The first two levels of the center were designed to house four to six retails tenants on each floor. The third floor was to be the home of a high end restaurant with an expansive outdoor patio rooftop eating area.

Approximate square footage of the center was 35,000 sf.  Featuring a striking contemporary design with bold geometric shapes, this commercial building was devised to be a standout to the mundane buildings in the adjacent neighborhood.

The curved design of the high end restaurant, combined with the glass/metal composition of walls and roof ultimately transcended the aesthetics of this building to an unparalleled dimension. A three story drop waterfall highlighting the entrance to the underground parking garage, added a dramatic touch to the already striking architectural design. Schematic design renderings are enclosed in this portfolio (Schematic design: Livia Shi with Architecture LS3, Inc.)
