WAREHOUSE
CONVERSION TO A RESIDENCE

On a whim, a young Southern Californian couple, with two young children, decided to be adventurous and buy a vacated warehouse to convert into their next home. The existing warehouse - located in Commerce, CA - used to be the home of a photography studio. After working with the City of Commerce Planning Commission, a new exterior design was created which enhanced the existing neighborhood, but still retained the character of a historical warehouse. For the interior space, a distinctly modern design was developed. However, the existing interior brick walls were left exposed to preserve the distinct warehouse atmosphere. Because the project was the first of its kind in this industrial neighborhood, the approval of this project essentially set a precedence for future developments.
